Dimplex CS1205 Compact Electric Stove

The other day it started too really feel like winter was coming upon us and the house was a little chilly in the morning. Normal I would start a fire up the old fireplace insert, but if wasn’t quite cold enough to depleting this years wood pile.

So I thought it was time to bring out to old electric space heaters. But after looking at them, I decided it was time to buy some new ones. I remembered seeing a Dimplex Compact Electric Stove that looked like a little free standing wood stove on clearance a my neighbor ACE hardware store. I started looking around and found out that what I saw last spring was a Dimplex CS1205 Electric Stove / Space Heater. After a little research, here is what I found:

Perfect For a Small Room:

This electric stove is perfect for a bedroom, a small den or sitting area. It has the capacity to warm up rooms up to 400 square feet. The room that I have is a 12 foot x 14 foot room with two un-insulated windows and it can take the chill out of the air pretty fast. The unit does not have a thermostat, so plan on trying to keep a constant temperature in the room.

Quiet and Energy Efficient:

The unit has a High and Low settings for an even heat distribution. It has a quite forced air fan. This model unit is rated at 1500 watts, 12.5 amps. It’s BTU output is approximately 5,100. A 15amp, 120 volt electrical outlet is all that is required. Please note that if you have multiply electrical appliance on the same electrical circuit you may want to turn some appliances off. If you can run a typical 1500W hair blower without tripping the circuit breakers, then using this stove should not be a problem (always consult a licensed electrician if you are uncertain).

Safe to Use:

Some Drawbacks to the CS 1205 Compact Electric Stove:

• There is not thermostatic control to set temperature – Although this would be a great feature to have, generally these units are for supplemental heat, either to pre-warm a room or to add some additional heat to reduce the chill.
• There is no remote for this unit - You can upgrade the model to get more features.
• This Unit does not have a front door – Some units made by Dimplex have this feature.
